Sixth Form Business students recently stepped onto the famous lawns of Wimbledon for an unforgettable day of learning beyond the classroom. Exploring how one of the world’s most iconic sporting events operates as a global business, they discovered the inner workings of the organisation’s structure, brand legacy, and innovative approach to sustainability (yes, even the clever strawberry box lining got a mention!).
Students were challenged to work in teams on a real-life business scenario: how to invest a set budget to improve The Championships for next year. Their entrepreneurial thinking and creative solutions were impressive, ranging from enhancing fan engagement to boosting eco-friendly initiatives.
A huge thank you goes to the Wimbledon Learning Team, whose expertise, enthusiasm, and insider knowledge made the experience so engaging. From wandering through the interactive museum and exploring the stunning grounds to catching a glimpse of the legendary Centre Court, the day offered a vivid reminder that business is not just about numbers - it’s about innovation, strategy, and a little bit of magic. 💡🌿

Meanwhile, our Sixth Form Classical Civilisation students journeyed to London for a weekend of theatre and culture, beautifully organised by Clare and Sarah. Over two days, they saw three incredible productions - The Unbelievers at The Royal Court, Twelfth Night at The Globe, and The Lady from the Sea at The Bridge Theatre.
A particular highlight was Bacchae, actor Nima Taleghani’s debut production at the National Theatre. As the students are studying Euripides’ Bacchae at A Level, seeing this modern retelling brought the ancient text vividly to life. The chorus danced, chanted, rapped, and shouted, while Dionysus himself, played by Ukweli Roach, appeared in a sequinned gold tracksuit - a choice that sparked both surprise and admiration. Discussions after the performance explored the treatment of women, migrants, and the marginalised in society, alongside reflections on how contemporary staging brings new layers of meaning to a classic text.
