Live music returns to Redmaids' High with our autumn concert

music postOn Thursday 11 November, nearly 200 students across years 7 to 13 took part in our autumn concert.

This was a wonderful event, particularly as it was our first live performance in front of an audience in nearly two years! It was fantastic to be back in Redland Hall, and from the moment the house lights went down there was a real sense of buzz and excitement.

There were many outstanding performances, all congratulated with rapturous applause. Performances included those given by our Concert Orchestra, Youth Choir, Senior Choir and Chamber Choir, as well as 'Lady Madonna' performed by our Percussion Ensemble, 'Liberty Bell' by the Wind Band, Tchaikovsky's 'Serenade for Strings' and 'The Sleeping Beauty Waltz' performed by our Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra, 'Walk the Dinosaur' by the Swing Band and 'All the Things You Are' sung by our a cappella group, Close Encounters.

Mrs Harrison, Director of Music, said, "It really was a terrific evening. After such a long period of us adapting ensembles in line with covid restrictions and then sharing concerts online, or putting together virtual ensembles in lockdown, it was wonderful to be able to perform live again to such an appreciative audience. To see so many performers on stage enjoying live music-making once again was a real treat."
