Earlier in this series we met Freya and this time we would like to introduce Dulcie, aged 7, who joined us in September to find out what she has been up to and why we never underestimate a 7-year-old:
Hi Dulcie, what do you like most about the Junior School since joining?
“I like how you can make new friends quickly and all the teachers are really nice. They make all the subjects really fun. Art is my favourite. I really like the new library with the Midnight Garden room. I also like the playground and being able to use the iPads in school and at home.”
What are your favourite clubs and why?
“I like art club the most because we get to draw, do portraits and build things up slowly. I really like drama club because we get to be really free. We are going to the Bristol Festival of Drama next month and I am going to be reading two poems - The Big Fat Budgie as a group and The Small Ghostie with a friend. I like origami club with Mrs Badger – we have made a swan, a bunny, a box and a hummingbird! I also enjoy netball club which I have just started doing.”
Is there anything you are especially proud of?
“I’m proud that I have made friends as I was worried I wouldn’t. Also that I have tried hockey and netball as I didn’t know how to play before and I really enjoy both. We also just did the Creative Arts workshop where we practised for two days. It was tiring but really fun. We were put in our Houses and we each learnt a story. I’m in Maryflowre and we did The Ugly Duckling. Seabreake did Thumbelina, Speedwell did The Snow Queen and Discoverer did The Little Mermaid."
We are proud too, that Dulcie is entering the Bristol Festival of Speech and Drama, and has performed confidently to large audiences on several occasions already.
