When 7-year-olds join us in Year 3, our key entry point, the possiblities open to them are endless.

We are meeting the first in a series of our talented Year' 3 pupils, Freya, to find out what she loves so far about the Junior School since joining in September. This is a perfect example of why we never underestimate our 7-year-olds:

Hi Freya, what do you like most about the Junior School since joining?

“I like that it is really friendly and welcoming. There are opportunities to try lots of new things especially in sport and music, things like playing hockey, which I haven’t done before. I also really like Netball Club, we do lots of games to get our legs warmed up and it is really fun being able to practise shooting.”

What are your favourite clubs and why?

“Probably judo because the instructor is really nice and helps me a lot. I found it quite hard at first when I was faced against people bigger than me but now I have learnt how to throw them! We have been given our gradings and I have just earnt the first stripe on my white belt. Before I joined, we looked at the list of clubs and I wanted to see what a self-defence class was like. I also like fencing. It’s really challenging. We get to wear a silver jacket that knows the scores. We also do a fun game a bit like Simon says called Granny's footsteps.”

Is there anything you are especially proud of?

“I am really proud that I have learnt how to play hockey because I didn’t know how to play before. My teacher has told me that I can pass and control the ball well, and I’ve got a new hockey stick now so I can practise!”
