Our children need the theatre to help them thrive

David Suchet wrote a brilliant article in the Telegraph newspaper titled 'Our children need the theatre to help them thrive,' which explains why the arts are so important.

In it he said, "Our minds are developed and made strong through the education system, our bodies are developed and made strong through sports and excercise. But what about our souls. How are they developed and made strong?

"Well there is the spiritual dimension and also the arts. Creativity is essential. The ability to draw and paint, to play musical instruments, to write novels, to dance, to perform and act is unique to our species and we desperately need it."

We could not have put it better ourselves.

We don't under-estimate the importance of the arts at any stage in a child's education and have thriving music, art, drama and English departments across both our Junior and Senior Schools.

In fact, our feeling is so strong that we are making a significant financial investment. Any Year 3 pupil who joins the Junior School from September 2021 onwards will have one-to-one music or drama lessons with a specialist teacher, completely free of charge for a year.

New parents have until the end of August to register for a place - even if it is for a Year 3 place in 2022 or beyond.
