Our Open Mornings are a friendly and informal way for you to discover Redmaids’ High Senior School. They are a great chance to explore our green and open campus, meet our staff and get a genuine sense of our welcoming atmosphere.
Even if your daughter won’t be joining us for a few years, visiting early can help you feel confident about the schools you’re considering. We have written a guide to independent schools and guide to the benefits of a single sex education which you may also find useful to read.
Here’s what you can expect on the day:
- Welcome and Registration – When you arrive, we’ll check you in and provide you with a programme and a goodie bag to take home. Complimentary refreshments will be available for you to enjoy as you settle in.
- Welcome Talks – Our Head, Paul Dwyer, will give a short talk outlining the school’s ethos, values, academic achievements, pastoral support, co-curricular opportunities, and our vision for the future. You’ll also hear from our Head Girls and some current students on what it’s really like to be in the Redmaids’ High community.
- Student-led Tours – You’ll then join a small group tour led by our current students. This is a wonderful chance to see our school in action and ask any questions. Tours typically include classrooms, science labs, art studios, sports facilities, music and drama spaces, and communal areas.
- Meet Staff and Departments – Along the way, you’ll meet our teachers and Heads of Department, who will be ready to chat about their subjects and answer any questions. This is a great way to get a feel for our teaching style, curriculum, and enrichment opportunities.
- Co-curricular Showcases – You’ll experience the buzz of school life first-hand, with music and drama performances, sports demonstrations, and clubs in action throughout the morning.
- Pastoral and Admissions Stands – You’ll also have the chance to speak with our pastoral team, SENCo, and Admissions staff about the application process, scholarships, bursaries and key dates.
- Refreshments and Informal Chat – There will be plenty of time to enjoy refreshments and chat informally with staff, students and other visiting families - the perfect opportunity to ask any final questions.
We can’t wait to welcome you and your family!
Keep an eye out for our follow-on blog: ‘what to ask at an open event’ which will include some top tips on how to get the most out of the morning.
