Summer 2025 Adventures: Redmaids' High Students Explore USA and Dorset

Summer 2025 has been packed with excitement at Redmaids' High, with students making the most of the holidays through a variety of unforgettable trips and experiences. From overseas city adventures to action-packed outdoor challenges closer to home, our pupils have welcomed every moment of the summer break with energy and enthusiasm.

The first week of the holidays saw a group of students jetting off to the United States for an unforgettable tour of New York and Washington DC. Six days flew by in a whirlwind of iconic sights and experiences. In New York, students soared to the Top of the Rock for breathtaking 360° views, rode the Staten Island ferry past the Statue of Liberty, explored masterpieces at the Met, reflected at the 9/11 Memorial, and even enjoyed a Broadway show – The Little Shop of Horrors starring Elizabeth Gillies – all while sampling plenty of pretzels and bagels along the way. After a long coach journey, the group arrived in Washington DC, where visits to The White House, the Monuments, and the Capitol Building gave students a firsthand glimpse of modern history. Under the expert guidance of Mr Baynham and the brilliant organisation of Mrs Tamblyn, the trip ran smoothly, and the students embraced the heat, the miles of walking, and the adventure wholeheartedly – even earning a shout-out from the pilot on the flight home!

Meanwhile, back in the UK, our Year 8 students spent a week at the Buddens Activity Centre in Dorset. With scorching weather setting the scene for adventure, students took part in a variety of outdoor challenges on land and water, building skills, confidence, and camaraderie. A highlight was the visit to Dorset Water Park, where the infamous 'Mud Trail' tested their grit and determination. Between the activities, plenty of hearty food, and shared laughter, the students threw themselves into every moment, making memories to last a lifetime. Full details on this year’s trip will be shared soon.
